The residency expert in the climate module is Dr Paweł Jarosiewicz — ecohydrologist at the UNESCO Chair of Ecohydrology and Applied Ecology — and the second expert is Elżbieta Urbaniak, landscape designer associated with Deer Garden, who has been closely cooperating with the Sendzimir Foundation for many years.
The team focuses on examining the spatial conditions around the University of Lodz campus (Lumumbowo), aiming to make the area both attractive for its users and aligned with good ecological practices.
The residency revolves around the theme of the “climate crisis.” Therefore, a key aspect of the work will be adapting the space to the challenges of climate change — such as more intense short-term rainfall events alternating with periods of drought.
The project aims at the most effective possible management of rainwater and the introduction of diverse biological activity within the university campus area, in line with the needs of its users.
